There are few film stories that are so tender and realistic as the one shown in "Once" starring Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova (The Swell Season) which won the Oscar in 2007 for Best Song for 'Falling Slowly'. Aesthetics and interpretation (or the music!) Made us enjoy greatly with this crude plot about two people lost in the heart of Dublin. Today, six years after the release of it, "Once" back in the news. And not just because they go out for a remake (but not, please!) But because the story has been adapted to a completely new format: the theater.
March 18 is open season on the Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre on Broadway (New York) for the public to enjoy this performance. Evidence of the very great work of the division is found in the recording of the song 'Falling Slowly' which you can enjoy below. It is obvious that Glen and Marketa are not playing their respective roles in the small theater of 242 New Yorker but have to admit that the thing is very, very good looking (at least for the melody part of the work).

A contrast
Light and dark, loud and soft, electronic and organic, atmospheric and bright - the White Noise / Black Silence is the Gasteig festival in the third round. On Easter Sunday, 8 April can listen to music lovers from 19 clock dance Gasteig, to celebrate.
In the black box and the small concert hall give Firnwald, The Dope, blek le roc and This Is The Arrival their music holds for the best, the lobby between the rooms to take a rest and relax "while the black box is bright and light-intensive invite to party , expecting the audience in the small concert hall a dim, dark mood, where you can concentrate on the music. The combination of these two worlds is the foyer. There you can leave in peace the contrasts of the two rooms seem to be, "say the organizers. The festival is organized entirely by Gasteig trainees.

Dojo Cuts: Take from me
There were quite a few reviews in the past, repeatedly attempted to highlight key points of the true soul. So she went to the heart and soul to the pain and despair. Longing and passion are the attributes which have existed since the late 50's female singers and singers have managed to an audience loyalty. The great soul-heroes of the 1960s and 1970s were done to perfection and eternity. To rely on these icons to emulate them very directly and never was a mistake - was crucial here, of course, always the talent and the ability to use the above attributes, so live it. The old guard was rediscovered by Charles Bradley and Lee Fields has it that after all these years, still in the blood. Al Green, it still has. The Renaissance activists to Sharon Jones (Dapkings) and Mayka Edjo (The Sweet Vandals) have shown many times. There are many other examples - if you look with an authentic soul (and radio) sets apart.
The next generation of soul music has classical and modern forms of expression found. Cee-Lo Green and foremost. Ben l'Oncle Soul, Aloe Blacc, and the now gone from us Amy Winehouse has been sucking sound of traditional works from New Orleans, Detroit and Chicago, and turned it into something new, which honors the history and modernity not scared. The press hailed not without reason, that here again returned originality, respect life and emotion, and offered the € Plastikpop and R'n'B dance a counterbalance.
The success of Winehouse and Green have certainly the original idea of the rhythm 'brought back. Many artists and bands have been able to draw the world for their courage in deep reverence for the warm sound of the 1970s and all the wonderful works between Marvin Gaye, Donnie Hathaway, The Meters and Irma Thomas to make public, without having to leave the label as Altgestrige need.
The results are when you hear the new album of Dojo Cuts, breathtaking. Not without reason, the speaker of the global community Rare Groove (Russ Dewberry, Neal Sugarman, Craig Charles, Gilles Peterson, Henry Storch) commented enthusiastically about the Australian band and their second album. Everything fits what you love on a plate from the genre soul / funk. Arragements perfect, amazing pointed horns, driving groove and a stunning voice of charismatic singer Roxie Ray. Original compositions take on covers of Etta James, Marva Whitney & James Brown. "Take from me," Even 50 years after Otis Redding, a perfect, perfect, really noble genre highlight.

DIG THIS: Volume II: Dennis Kraus
In the coming weeks and months we will start from the editorial 1beat.de a new series called "DIG THIS". Authors and guests (producers, musicians, DJs, Redakteuer, Aktivistn, friends) are going to write about their HIPHOP HIGHLIGHTS of the near and distant past here.
The second edition of DIG THIS-the former BACKSPIN EDITOR Dennis Kraus makes Hamburg. Dennis has written over many years as a writer for the hip-hop cult sheet and later also assumed the position of the boss. He is now active in many Leviathane and writes for Sound and audio magazines. With hip-hop, he is still connected. Not only as part of the backspin editors, but still as passionate fan he himself collected soul records from the 1970s and even prodziert beats.
Dig This!
A tip is Marterias album "Fortunately, in the future," certainly not. When it was published in summer 2010, a large part of the scene almost overturned by activists praise. And yet to meet one day rap fans who have not yet found access to this masterpiece. It's so easy!
Help to look at the actual work of a number of other rappers in the country could have delivered a lot in recent years, but rather disappointing. Often there was a lack of a musical concept. Or it was offered too little exciting new. Or the board drowned himself in reruns. Or the main character was so confident in his skills that he forgot simply that there are still more than the listener's oh-so-dazzling rhyme to keep it under your nose.
In "Luckily in the future," everything was different. You had to go far back in time to encounter a work that moved this country so well current musical trends in the hip-hop context. With The Krauts are Marteria had laughed at the most exciting producers that he could have had. Along with them, or vice versa, they created 12 songs, all of which are fundamentally different and yet fit together beautifully into a complete work. 12 songs are the theme for yourself, but go together like "Wetten, dass ...?" And Thomas Gottschalk. Always excellent instrumentation, offers Marteria on each of those beats brilliant lyrics that are formulated as brilliant as it is entertaining. The listener on a very pleasant way to attract, entertain, and often dismissed with a punch line from the song. It goes Marteria always, is very stylish on the sometimes fine line between embarrassment, pseudo-jokes and irrelevance on the one hand and move to draft, good humor and observations on the other side. Often with rather simple terms it usually pushes things better - and particularly interesting - than many of his fellow rappers. Sometimes even a few words and the picture in the listener's head is there. For this he has to "Happily In The Future" is an excellent feature choice is made. With Jan Delay, Peter Fox, however, it has two artists on board, who have certainly a much greater standing than him. Steal the show, he can not from them yet. Instead, they are, how well the singer Jasha, Casper and nestled perfectly on the same number of songs-heard Miss Platnum in his oeuvre.
Anyone looking for the weaknesses of the album, which can of course criticize, lecture Marterias way would be monotonous, downright boring. And you may miss the breathtaking flows, which some other rapper has to offer. But let's face it: On the remarkable just once, then they are checked off. "Been There, Done That". End. Who goes something like this, which one might call, but that technology is exciting only when one no longer perceives it as such. The latter finding Max Herre told in an interview BACKSPIN way already in 1999. Currently, she is still.
The latter also holds for "Fortunately, in the future." Even a half years after the publication, at least I can still hear the record. And I know it by heart. But when I pressed the Play button only once, she caught me again. I would hope by many other rap records these days, too. Just do not come to this request. Too bad.

Jack White breaks down walls with his guitar on 'Sixteen Saltines'
We discovered the day of the performance on Saturday Night Live and loved it. Now, at last, Jack White has decided to show the world the studio version of 'Sixteen Saltines' (and eventually find in that "blunderbuss" which goes on sale April 24) through a small streaming found on the website of Antiquiet.
Within three days the former member of The White Stripes will be at the South By Southwest festival to perform in the musical context has in Third Man Records. Hopefully by then we can discover more of an album that is leaving us with good teeth, good times. Each advance sounds insane and 'Sixteen Saltines' was the maximum we could expect far. It may take years but Mr. White did not lose any of that cane it over the top in the late 90 - early last decade.

Jack White unveils 'Sixteen Saltines' Saturday Night Live
Bon Iver, Foo Fighters ... every god has been through Saturday Night Live to promote their music. The last to fall was Jack White, living legend of rock 'n roll that came to the set of NBC to present live two issues of "blunderbuss": the familiar' Love Interruption "and an uproarious and unprecedented court entitled 'Sixteen Saltines'.
For the first issue Jack took the stage surrounded by an imposing set consisting of fine artists dressed in very harsh tones. But for the second, Mr. White left the American (and acoustic guitar) in the dressing room to win over the audience and on the basis of heartbreaking sound that became known to The White Stripes. For this particular occasion had a "back up" purely distilled male soul and rock'n roll classic through and through.
Only a genius is able to rotate 180 degrees direct his own.And in one issue! Jack White is a big one.

'Beach': memories that shipwrecked on the coast of Australia
Thanks to the British label Communion have discovered great artists. Without going any further yesterday, and thanks to his Facebook page, we had the opportunity to enjoy the music of Boy & Bear, a joint Australian indie folk / rock that has begun to gain a foothold in the international sector through a stunning second book - "Moonfire" - which came out mid last year and we can enjoy through Spotify.
Within the list of songs that make up this LP is one in particular caught my attention especially. It's called 'Beach', takes just over six minutes and shows us the great ability of the Yagoona (Sydney) at the time of preparing organic items that improve with the passage of the latter. What begins with the raw, melodic at the same time, the voice of Dave Hosking just evolving into a court that is closer to a piece of alternative rock than anything else. Or what is the same: a "feel" similar to Mumford & Sons are just coming to something that could be well worth any drive from My Morning Jacket or similar.
In April will be touring the UK so I highly recommend that you may be familiar with one of those groups that promise to give a lot of war in this 2012. Boy & Bear you seem to have everything: good attitude, a remarkable voice (Dave Hosking seems to reach the levels required to achieve at all times) and instrumental personality all its own. Let no brake.
